Ben O’Grady started tattooing in 2007 in Wellington New Zealand. His passion for the craft is deeply rooted in tattooing history, artistry and subcultural roots.
Drawing inspiration from the bold readability of traditional Japanese tattooing (irezumi) and ukiyo-e artists such as Kyosai, Yoshitoshi, Hokusai and Kuniyoshi.
Western tattooing particularly the San Francisco scene surrounding Ed Hardy in the 1970s to 90s Low brow artists like Robt. Williams and 70s fantasy and horror illustrators such as Frank Frazetta, Philippe Druillet and Caza.
Ben was drawn to tattooing through growing up skateboarding, drawing, and listening to 80s punk and hardcore.
